Protecting people, property and assets with fire detection, suppression and extinguishing solutions from Johnson Controls

Johnson Controls, the global leader for smart, healthy and sustainable buildings has delivered a fully integrated fire detection, suppression and extinguishment system for British retail group Frasers Group at its Mansfield site – one of Europe's largest automated warehouses.

The project builds on the existing relationship with Frasers Group, where Johnson Controls have uniquely collaborated on the sprinkler systems sitewide since the building’s construction. Drawing on Johnson Controls’ fire safety expertise, the new system offers early and reliable thermal imaging and extinguishment 24 hours a day in a combined system to protect stock.

Delivered to meet the requirements for this type of environment, the cameras detect fires from inception, identifying the exact location of the incident despite high levels of smoke in the event of fire, achieving final extinguishment.

The new system enables water monitors to be both automatically and manually operated by senior personnel or the fire brigade, rotating the cannons remotely to ensure that damage is kept to a minimum in the event of fire. This dual approach, offering automatic and manual intervention, goes beyond FMDS 8-34 requirements for manual intervention, delivering a robust fire protection system.
