With the expansion of renewable technologies and variation in demand, green hydrogen production is increasingly becoming not only a way to decarbonise the transportation and domestic markets, but also a way to maximise renewable energy generation by providing alternative revenue streams during low demand periods. 

Green Hydrogen is produced from water using electrolysis powered by the renewable energy generated by Offshore Wind. Blue hydrogen refers to hydrogen produced using standard natural gas, with the CO2 emissions generated during the process captured and stored using Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) technology.

CCS plants use industrial processes to remove carbon from the natural gas, leaving the hydrogen for shipping to consumers. The removed carbon is captured and sent for storage in adapted gas reservoirs. Biomass energy is energy generated or produced by living or once-living organisms. Biomass feedstocks include dedicated energy crops, agricultural crop residues, forestry residues, algae, wood processing residues, municipal waste, and wet waste (food waste).

While burning Biomass releases carbon dioxide (CO2), it is considerably less than fossil fuels and if based on plant material we consider biomass a renewable energy source if plants replenished. Hydroelectricity is the worlds most mature industrial scale renewable technology and has been used around the world since 1882. Fire can be a serious danger in hydro plants as they share many of the same fire hazards as fossil-fuel plants, including oil-filled transformers, electrical cables and switchgear, air-cooled generators, and large quantities of combustible hydraulic oil. The difference from thermal power plants is that hydro plants are typically underground/underwater and windowless increasing the potential of trapping workers.
